Real browser measurement
See what your connection can actually sustain.
One bounded test translates raw speed, latency under load and jitter into guidance for calls, games, streaming and downloads.
Live measurement
Internet Speed & Network Quality Test
Pause large downloads and cloud sync. This creates real traffic, capped at about 135 MB; slower links stop earlier.

VPN deltas versus direct baseline
Method
How this speed test works
The official @cloudflare/speedtest engine warms the connection, takes 20 HTTP latency samples, then ramps download and upload payloads from 100 KB to 25 MB. It uses Resource Timing, median latency and a high bandwidth percentile; slower links stop before the largest payloads.
A concrete example
Example interpretation
A 180 Mbps download can coexist with 320 ms loaded latency. Large downloads may be fast while a call becomes choppy whenever another device fills the link; the loaded-latency result explains that difference.
Limits and uncertainty
What these numbers can—and cannot—tell you.
- 01
This is the browser-to-Cloudflare edge path, not every destination on the Internet. Wi-Fi, VPN routing, peering and time of day can change the result.
- 02
Packet loss is not shown because the official public TURN service is deprecated and this release has no first-party credential service. HTTP failures are never relabeled as packet loss.
- 03
Background tabs, battery saving, other downloads and browser extensions can distort samples. Keep this tab visible and pause large transfers.
