Halftone Image Maker: from input to a reviewable result

Render a monochrome dot-screen image whose local dot coverage follows source luminance. A selectable cell size controls the visual frequency, making the page useful for a printable graphic treatment or for learning how brightness becomes dot area.

Worked example: 1200×800 image with 8 px cells

How to interpret it

Darker cells receive larger black dots and lighter cells smaller ones; the output canvas keeps the source pixel dimensions.

Luminance-to-area rendering

Canvas pixels are sampled by square cells, converted to local average luminance, and mapped inversely to a centered black-dot radius. The browser draws the complete screen locally and exports the rendered canvas.

Print and sampling boundaries

  • The effect is a raster simulation, not a press-ready vector halftone or separations file.
  • Small cells increase processing cost and can create moiré after resizing.
  • The export is monochrome and does not perform CMYK screen-angle control.
